Across The Pond - Day 1

OK, So maybe Day1 and Day2

So it all started with Good-Byes
to our puppies

Then a 2+ hour drive to
PHX Sky Harbour Airport
Where we boarded a large
Air France
plane and flew for 10-1/2 hours,
across the pond
to Paris
We were fed a yummy pasta dinner
that incIuded
a good portion of bowtie pasta and sauce,
a delicious Roll
tab of butter
couscous salad
and one of those little round wax covered cheezes
a slice of cheesecake
and to top it all off-and make it
REALLY SPECIAL
 a sealed cup of water
from non-other than
Nanton, Alberta. Canada

That all happend around 4pm Arizona Time .
Then we watched movies, read, listened to music,
and finally slept some.
It got dark quickly as we flew East,
over the bottom tip of
Hudson Bay Canada
and on over the
Pond.
Around 10:30pm
Arizona Time
they brought up the lights
opened the window blinds
and woke me up for breakfast
a warm baggette  with
cheese and some kind of meat inside
peach Yogurt
another yummy roll with butter and Jelly
a tiny fruit cup
(4 tiny squares of mellons)
and orange juice
Yummy, but kind of funny at 10:30 at night!

We touched down in Paris at 9:10am local time
(12:10am  midnight AZ time)

Customs was super smooth
But getting our Uber driver to find us
was a challenge in patience for sure.
We didn't leave the airport
until after 11:00am

But the ride was
Uneventful except for
watching out the windows,
and we arrived at our
quaint little hotel
Hotel Recamier Paris
around 12:00 noon (or so)
Where we were greated very nicely.
but informed,
Sadly,
that the lift was broken.
and we were on the 5th floor
BUT, the room was ready for us.

So up we climbed!
Luckily we have been training
for our hike at the
Grand Canyon
in October
so the stairs weren't too big a challenge

After Settling in,
it was off to discover
Paris!

We walked all over
our neighborhood of
Saint Germain des Pres
then on to the river Seine
where we wandered across and along
and saw
Eglise Saint-Supice,
Sainte Chapelle,
(beautiful cathedrals)
glimpses of Notre Dame,
The Musee du Louvre
two beautiful Parks,
Jardin du Luxembourg
and
Jardin des Tuileries
and then on down the river
and across the beautiful bridge
Pont Alexandre III
With its amazing statues and sculptures.
Scaffolding from the Olympics last month was still visible...

Just before crossing that bridge,  we stopped for pictures
Of the Eiffle Tower

We walked more,
heading back towards
our hotel,
but stopped at a
cute little cafe
for
Steak & fries
(though I had chicken & fries)
Delish!

Now we are back in little room
at the hotel.
Our window is wide open
and the only sounds we've heard
are some birds arguing
and the church bells tolling!
So peaceful!

Going to get some early shut-eye tonight,
catching an early train tomorrow,
off to
Zermott. Switzerland

Bye for Now!
